A distiller is used to separate liquids by evaporating and condensing the vapors, resulting in a more concentrated product. It consists of a boiler where the liquid is heated and a cooling system (condenser) where the vapors are liquefied. A distillation column can be used to purify and proof the “water of life”.

Aqua Vita (aqua vitae, lat. for “water of life”) is a medieval name for an aqueous solution of ethyl alcohol obtained by distilling fermentation products, and also a general term for a series of noble alcoholic beverages that vary significantly in their raw materials, ingredients, and production method.
